Maurizio Nannucci: NOT MORE THAN FIFTY THOUSAND TOURISTS HAVE VISITED THE ANTARCTIC

Art Metropole presents a new artist project by Maurizio Nannucci to coincide with Art 34 Basel International Art Fair, June 17 – 23, 2003.

The bright yellow shopping bag is emblazoned in black with Nannucci’s text “NOT MORE THAN FIFTY THOUSAND TOURISTS HAVE VISITED THE ANTARCTIC”. The bag was launched at the Art Metropole booth with a signing by the artist.

Maurizio Nannucci has a long-standing relationship with Art Metropole and we thank him for a wonderful multiple.

Previously, Art Metropole has published shopping bags by Dan Graham, Yoko Ono, and John Jack Baylin to coincide with Art Metropole’s participation at Art Basel.

About the Artist:

Maurizio Nannucci lives and works in Florence, Italy. Nannucci has, perhaps more so than any other artist, dedicated himself to the publishing of artists’ publications, sound works, and multiples. In addition to his own vast output of objects, bookworks, text signs, and ephemera, Nannucci has (through his MELA project) published work by a stellar array of Conceptual, Fluxus and language-based artists from around the world.

Recent exhibitions include:
Danny Keller Galerie, Munich 2003;
Maurizio Nannucci: Nothing is Original, Sprengel Museum Hannover – Hannover, 2002;
Museum im Palais Kinsky, Vienna 2002
