Description

Hans-Peter Feldmann’s work draws on an enormous personal archive that he has spent decades gathering. In this collection of black and white amateur photographs, the theme of love is reiterated through wedding pictures, portraits and informal snapshots. For Feldmann, the stereotypical, even clichéd compositions of these appropriated photographs can often be overlooked because of their familiarity. This fascinating book looks at intimacy whether it is couples, mothers and children, best friends or the nebulous territory of same sex affection. Images span from the 1920’s to the 1970’s, giving way to a varied generational experience of love.
