Description

Originally a short film, Anouk De Clercq carried out intensive research for ‘Oops wrong planet’. She drew inspiration from e-mail conversations with an autistic man who calls himself Landship and with whom she investigated the meaning of sound, space and communication. Asperger patients sometimes refer to their disorder as the ‘wrong-planet syndrome’, because sufferers find it more difficult to accept reality and maintain social contacts. Reality can sometimes be so overwhelming that they withdraw into their own, structured world. In this world, white noise forms a safety buffer, with communication happening at a distance. And this autistic reflex exists inside every one of us.

Written in Dutch, French and English.
