Visit Art Metropole this Saturday February 25 from 2-5PM for the book launch of Where Once Stood A Bandstand for Cruising & Shelter by Hazel Meyer (@hazelmyr)!
Where Once Stood A Bandstand for Cruising & Shelter offers a social life for the text from Hazel Meyer’s 2017 Nuit Blanche performance of the same name in which 24 hand-lettered tyvek banners were unfurled from scaffolds in Queen’s Park over a 12 hour period. Isolating the words from the spectacle, this book allows for a more intimate reading of the text that fell with the banners. The publication is printed by students in the OCAD University Print and Publications course Out & About Print Workshop and spoofs on Joyce Wieland’s 1971 True Patriot Love catalogue/artist book. The launch will include a performance table read as well as a display of jean jackets OCADU students made along with the book.
