We need to make (ROOMS):

Place Holder is a script written by Cara Benedetto and Danna Vajda that imagines what it means to have space, be invited to it, rent it, program it, claim it and and impose upon it. The collaborative script functions as a diving board from which both artists individually enact it into scene and space. Vajda through a comic book illustrated storefront and anthropomorphic objects such as tattooed citrus fruit. Benedetto through a series of writing workshops, utilizing Place Holder techniques, will engage and dodge, make place and wait, rest and want, a little late on the take. The project considers the divergencies between collective and individual claims to a space through a cast of characters and their desire to hold a place.

Cara Benedetto graduated from Columbia University’s (NYC) MFA Program in 2009 after attending Tamarind Institute of Lithography, Albuquerque, NM. Her work has been shown internationally, with Badlands Inc, Metro Pictures, and currently Chapter (NYC), Night Gallery (LA), Galeri Marquise Dance Hall (Istanbul), among others. Her work has been reviewed in New York Times Magazine, LA Weekly, Art in America, and The Art Book Review, among others.
