Some New Fires

Book Launch and Conversation related to the Art Metropole Ceramics Exhibition, Some New Fires.

Art Metropole is pleased to present the Canadian release of New Balance: Approaching the Use of Ceramics in Contemporary Art. Authored and edited by New York-based writer Christopher Schreck, New Balance features texts and interviews with a group of artists whose integration of ceramics into broader fine arts practices confirms the medium’s technical foundations while demonstrating its material and conceptual range.

Please join us from 3-6pm for a launch event, which will feature a public conversation between Christopher Schreck, curator Hannah Myall, and artists Lili Huston-Heterich and Jimmy Limit.

The launch coincides with Some New Fires, a group exhibition of ceramics currently on view at Art Metropole’s window gallery. With a notable shift towards the incorporation of ceramics into their practices, this exhibition allows a platform for artists of Art Met’s closer and wider circles to exhibit their work and create a dialogue surrounding this recent pull towards the medium.

Some New Fires includes works by Aubry/Broquard, Katie Bethune-Leaman, Robin Cameron, Mark Delong, Jesi the Elder, Jessica Hans, Lili Huston-Herterich, Cody Hoyt, Felix Kalmenson, Parker Kay, Jimmy Limit, Eunice Luk, Jenine Marsh, and Erin Jane Nelson. Curated by Hannah Myall, the show runs through January 31st.

New Balance is published by Off-White New York.
