Description

SPIN-OFF is literally a spin-off from a writing project Isabelle Pauwels has been involved in over the past two years. The form and design of the book calls up the literary genre of the kind of ‘trade-novel’ one would normally find at convenience stores such as 7-Eleven where part of Isabelle’s narrative takes place. The orange, green and red pantone stripes that adorn the cover of the book not only give away the internal content of the book, but the stripes also function to self wrap or ‘contain’ the books content which otherwise spills out into infinite repetition. As simple as the book appears at first sight, the book reveals its own making throught the most subtle of mistakes in printing and binding. The book was produced for the exhibition White Noise at State Gallery, Vancouver
