Melgaard’s uncompromising multimedia work regularly pushes at the already liberal limits of the official art world. Beautifully printed colour images reference the culture and fear surrounding the emergence of Norweigian Black Metal music culture. Texts and drawings give voice to those contrary value systems based on male rock posturing, drug use, Satan worship, dangerous sex, death, suicide and homosexuality. Many glimpses of self-mutilation for sexual gratification, self-immolation, and rocker types pumped on steroids that would “rather be a drugged out loser than beeing (sic) you!” With an essay by Beate Ermacora titled “Interface To God”. Readers of Dennis Cooper will find many connections here.
