Jem Finer’s project realized by Artangel on December 31st, 1999 is concerned with concepts of long term thought and vision. Installed at the cusp of the new millennium the sound piece is intended to play for one thousand years. This, the first publication inspired by the sound work, includes three essays from the worlds of astrophysics, sonic time travel and mathematical science accompanied by the lp recordings of pieces of the audio work itself. Essays are accompanied by Finer’s own thoughts reproduced from her notebooks, photographs in colour and b/w, and full-page reproductions of the artist’s schematic drawings. Large format book and lp set. Numbered edition of 1000.
