An elegant oblong presentation of a series of “rectified” Goya prints, reproduced full colour, actual size. The Chapmans purchased one of the few remaining sets of the Disasters of War portfolio, made from the artist’s original plates by the Goya Foundation in 1937, and meticulously superimposed clown and puppy cartoon faces onto figures Goya had intended as allegories of human suffering. Desecration or the ultimate homage?
