Description

Vividly documents the story behind the making of the dOCUMENTA (13)

The perfect compact souvenir book to remember an eventful exhibition

Numerous photos of the most important exhibition sites and works of art

For Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, dOCUMENTA (13) already began in 2010, and this richly illustrated book documents, just like a logbook, the continuous formulation and recurrence of ideas, manifestations, and discussions with artists, writers, and thinkers. Photographs, continuously taken during the preparations, combined with Christov-Bakargiev’s cell-phone photographs, provide, on a level that runs parallel to the text, a very private insight into her approaches and methodologies and allow the reader to accompany her on her journeys.

All this accumulates like archaeological layers in these pages, narrating the passages that lead to the actual exhibition in Kassel and other locations. A comprehensive illustrated section including installation views of the works in Kassel as well as photographs of events, like concerts and performances that will take place in the opening week, presents a final piece of documentation and a lively visual walk through dOCUMENTA (13).
