The Shadow Flickers is an autobiographical narrative in a loose comics format centred around a prolonged attempt to overcome depression and suicidality, and the energized, frenetic urge to answer questions about oneself that emerge when self-regard becomes possible again. In particular, these questions concern gender, sexuality, identity, creativity, relationships to time and space, and the ambiguity of “healing” in a world that is unconducive to health.
