Public art performance ephemera from the public art project Lost and Found by Holly Ward and Kevin Schmidt. These T-shirts were worn by local community groups and individual volunteers during their everyday activities and walks along the Rouge Valley Trail in Unionville throughout the summer and fall of 2023. They were conceived as part of constructed situations by Schmidt and Ward that unfolded along the trail.
Later, as the project transitioned to an exhibition at the Varley Art Gallery, the T-shirts were repurposed into a sculptural work titled Lost and Found – T-shirt Display, formalizing a visual language that framed individual experiences along the trail as artworks.
The T-shirts come in various colours, with fourteen unique designs, each featuring a distinct slogan silkscreened onto them. They have been thoroughly cleaned and are in like-new condition.
Lost and Found was curated by Yan Wu and co-presented by Markham Public Art and the Varley Art Gallery of Markham, with project coordination by Alessandra Pozzuoli.
