Description

A collection of photographs taken during Beuys’ 1974 trip to America. Klaus Staeck and Gerhard Steidl accompanied Joseph Beuys and photographed his activities. Appearing in New York, Chicago and Minneapolis, in universities, schools, institutes and galleries Joseph Beuys presents his “social sculpture.” In crowded houses he describes his ideas about a new society and talks about all the questions and problems connected with it.

Includes an interview between Joseph Beuys and Klaus Staeck and article by Douglas Davis discussing Beuys’ visit that appeared in Newsweek in January, 1974. Text in German and English.
