Martin Vaughn-James (1943-2009) was a British painter and comic artist who also lived in intermittently Australia, Canada and Brussels.
While based in Montreal during the 1970s, Vaughn-James published his most acclaimed works through New Press and Coach House Press. This series included ‘Elephant’ (1970), a work that presents Vaughn-James’ fictional narratives that are predominately visual with sparing use of words or word bubbles.
