Ilya Kamisnky was born in Odessa, former USSR and came to America in 1993 when his family was granted asylum by the US government. He is the author “Dancing in Odessa” (Tupelo Press) which won American Academy of Arts and Letters’ Metcalf Award, Whiting Writers Award, Lanna Fellowship and other honors.
