Throughout his installations, performances and multiples Wojtyra often employs various images and symbols from the Canadian vernacular in order to examine the workings behind national identity, diasporic memory and the collective imagination. ‘The Chinook’ bookwork emerged in part from the exhibition and experiences that resulted from Wojtyra’s 2009 residency at the Banff Centre in Alberta, Canada.
