Description

Brad Elterman is a celebrated American photographer who played a pivotal role in documenting the music and entertainment culture in and around Los Angeles in the mid 1970’s. Although primarily known for his early work, Elterman has recently reemerged back onto the photography world with a number of successful series apperaing in publications such as Dazed and Confused, Purple, and VICE.

Starting his career at the early age of sixteen Elterman quickly established himself as a photographer of note documenting the famous and infamous throughout the 1970s and early 80s. Celebrities such as Joan Jett, Michael Jackson, Kiss, The Ramones, Blondie, David Bowie, Leif Garrett and others all passed before his lens. Possessing an uncanny ability to capture the zeitgeist of the moment Elterman’s imagery caused a sensation as it cascaded across the pages of People, Rolling Stone, Creem, Circus, Hit Parader, and Super Teen, revealing candid, behind the scenes shots of the rock and roll lifestyle that defined an era.

With the demise of the punk scene Elterman went into an extended hiatus which lasted almost twenty-five years. Encouraged by friends and fans alike Elterman resumed his photo career in 2010 shooting a new generation of musicians, models, and celebrities, with the same exuberance, insight, and fun that defined his early work. Compiled together for the first time in print No Dogs on Beach presents Elterman’s recent work alongside the historical images of his past portfolios inside this limited edition artist book.

Soft cover, full-color. Numbered edition of 250.
