Journal Safar is Beirut’s independent visual culture and graphic design journal. The publication collects the work of designers, thinkers and creatives from Beirut and beyond and is the brainchild of the founders of the graphic design and art direction agency, Studio Safar. Issue 3 is entirely bilingual and on Obsessions, featuring articles, illustrations and various other visuals on and around graphic design, as well as in relation to food, film, art, comics and poetry.
Journal Safar acts as a space to reflect and write on visual and design culture locally and in the region. The title follows the studio’s name which means ‘travel’ in Arabic, and refers to notions of communication especially across cultural and linguistic boundaries.
