No Drawing No Cry is the third and final volume in Kippenberger’s edition of ‘Hotel’ drawings, following Hotel – Hotel and Hotel – Hotel – Hotel—both of which were published in 1992 and quickly sold out. Whereas the previous two volumes featured drawings done by Kippenberger on Hotel stationery from all over the world, No Drawing No Cry ups the ante by presenting only the blank stationery of the hotels where Kippenberger stayed. This edition posthumously accomplishes the witty and significant ‘Hotel’ project just as the artist had planned it during his lifetime. One of the last works by a true original, No Drawing No Cry makes a lasting and essential contribution to Kippenberger’s oeuvre and is a must for any collector of artist’s books.
