Image of Olson’s “performance prop/sculpture multiple” 12! (composed of 12 xylophone keys in a wooden box) on a postcard. The title refers to the mathematical notion of factorials, often employed in statistics and probability, where a number is multiplied by every positive integer smaller than it, so that 12! equals 479,001,600 (the number of different possible arrangements of the keys in the box). Quite an excellent mathematical metaphor for how quickly things can become complicated. Put out by Saint Mary’s University Art Gallery.
