A Form and Method of Perfecting Pots is a timeline of 40 hand-made, lidded vessels of an attempted same shape and size, 39 of which are inscripted with series #, date, fabrication time, and weight. The one exception from the lot is a chosen best that has been decorated to completion. This project is a record of the investment of time in such study, prioritizing process and multiples over technically and aesthetically polished unique pieces.
Yasui’s work juxtaposes the role of utilitarian objects and documents with the form of decorative curios.
