PLASTER CYMBAL/SYMBOL is the third recording in a series of sound experiments made by Bay area artist, Chris Duncan, in which he employs repetition and accumulation as his conceptual framework. PLASTER CYMBAL/SYMBOL is a sound recording made from a plaster cast of a 23” ride cymbal with a piezo mic embedded in it. For this experiment, the cymbal stand-hole was covered, the cymbal flipped over and used as a mold for the plaster. The shape of the object is the negative space of the cymbal.
One sided white vinyl record, with offset printed and sewn covers, stamped and numbered in edition of 100.
