In Memoriam… Mary Cecil, Victoria Callihoo (Nee Belcourt) and Eleanor (Helene) Thomas Garneau by Postcommodity, Alex Waterman

In conjunction with the performance curated by Ociciwan Collective, the publication and vinyl feature a new score by Postcommodity and Alex Waterman in response to Robert Ashley’s original scores memorialise famous figures from American history and the fifth score honours the lives of Mary Cecil, Victoria Calihoo (Nee Belcourt) and Eleanor (Helene) Thomas Garneau, three indigenous women who lived in territory as it became the province of Alberta. The project continues Ashley’s investigation of history and music and asks questions about who is memorialised and how.
