Pygmalion juxtaposes orderly, practiced images of female bodies in ballet positions next to images of crumbling stone ruins. They begin as extreme close-ups, slowly zooming out as the zine progresses. Moving through three phases (childhood, adolescence, adulthood), the zine observes a close, uneasy relationship between learned racialized femininity and wreckage.
Hand-bound with waxed black thread and tied with a neat bow at the spine reminiscent of those on children’s leather ballet shoes.
