Impulse Magazine began in 1971 as a literary quarterly edited by Peter Such. Eldon Garnet became editor and publisher in 1975, and Impulse assumed various experimental forms including microfiche, long-play record, Super 8
film, and other innovative multiples. In 1978, the format was stabilized in the 11 X 11 inch glossy square that continued for a decade, garnering international recognition.
