Description

First release from the Art Metronome vinyl record series featuring artists working in sound, with styles ranging from popular music such as hip-hop and electro-pop, to experimental/conceptual noise and sound art.

The series kicks off with pop aplomb with AM 001, featuring new material by Toronto-based bands Times Neue Roman and Kids On TV.

Times Neue Roman have been gathering critical praise for their two EPs “To Die” (2008), and “Zombies: The To Die Remixes” (2010), and their charismatic stage performances. The duo’s “nintendo-punk-rap” is countered, for Art Metronome, with the ballad “Dear Lucille, Talk Soon Aiden.”

Kids On TV have established an international reputation for their genre-defying

audio intersections, politicized and sexual performance antics and visual mash-ups of contemporary art references and popular culture. On AM001, KOTV present a special remix of “Goodbye Horses,” a high-disco cover version featuring vocals by Julie Faught. This is a distinctly soulful departure for a band steeped in edgy audio anarchy.

Edition of 300, numbered.
