Published to accompany the artist’s exhibition at Rochechouart Museum of Contemporary Art in France, March 1 to June 2, 2008. Taking a structure derived from logbooks and journals, Flavien’s book poetically documents the office activity, and forgotten moments, nonattendance and neglected hours involved in the presentation of a fictional yet functional architectural structure he completed in Brazil. This building was first developed in a series of drawings in which it was set in tropical or antediluvian landscapes and desert climates, and at times placed beside dinosaurs. Using both text and images, the bookwork articulates many interests of the artist such as architecture, science fiction, printed matter and anachronisms—chronological deviations that all allow him to activate a different temporality.
