Description

The title of the work ‘Everybody Deserves Love, Even You’ was the subject line of a junk-mail-email sent to the artist. Particularly manipulative and passive/aggressive, this phrase addresses contemporary cultural vulnerabilities, sadness, yearnings and desperation upon which marketers prey. The promise of joy and love is offered through all kinds of tactics, whether a pill that solves emotional and physical troubles, a cream that soothes pain and dimples, or garments that provide multiple guises and self-esteem.

Open edition.
