David Graeber holds the title of Reader in Social Anthropology at Goldsmiths University of London. He recently published a book entitled Debt: The First 5000 Years, which is a refutation of commonly held ideas regarding the history of debt, markets and the economy. David is a self-professed anarchist, a card-carrying member of the Industrial Workers of the World, and an outspoken social and political activist.
Neal Rockwell is a photographer and filmmaker and journalist living and working in Montreal. He spoke to Graeber at the American Anthropological Association’s annual meeting in Montreal in November 2011.
