Description

In China, matriarchal societies have existed thousands of years but are nevertheless (still) quite unknown in the rest of the world. One example is the Mosuo, an ethnic minority that lives in the provinces of Yunnan, Tibet and Sichuan. Visual artist Mathilde ter Heijne traveled to this area and came back with a wealth of material. Taking the form of a children’s book, this artist book details her experience through drawings and text.
