“Requiem” is the audio component of Olson’s exhibition of the same name. For “Requiem” Olson catalogued and recorded the musical toys he has collected for over 20 years. The sound files were digitally manipulated -primarily by slowing them down to about one-third speed, Olson’s preferred transformation – and combined semi-randomly as a four-channel recording subsequently mixed down to stereo to produce a symphonic composition 3 hours and 20 minutes in length.
