Hoarfrost & Solace is a set of six translations of Tang Dynasty Chinese poets, in which the translator’s experiences of the poems shape the mode of translation. The original Chinese, with its stillness, its formal precision, its subtle Daoism, is exploded via translation into queer fantasia, exile poetry, and Steinian syntactical distortion.
