Donald Rance has been creating this series of meticulously crafted, carefully edited collections of found photographs since the late 1990’s. OM: the oneiric metropolis (the city archive project) brings together the artist’s interests in the archive, the city, and the dream. The series now includes 11 titles.
This is the second in the series. A black clamshell box opens to reveal a stack of unbound cardstock inkjet prints, leading the viewer into the artist’s dream space, a shadowland. This collection presents an exploration of urban public spaces. The pictured anonymous citizens have been frozen in time and memory, all but forgotten, until now.
They will most likely become protagonists or bit players in your own dreams, finally released from their frozen states. Signed and numbered edition of 25 copies.
